Save a problem report

When something goes wrong, press ⌘⇧B in Braid. Braid saves a problem report on your Mac.

  • It's saved locally and never uploaded.
  • It never contains message bodies.
  • Read it first if you like, then attach it to your issue or email.

Questions

Is Braid free?

Yes. Braid is free software under the AGPL-3.0. A commercial license is available if you want to use its code in a closed-source product; see LICENSING.md.

Where does Braid store and process my email?

Braid stores its mail database only on your Mac and has no Braid servers. It talks to Google directly. Optional AI is off unless you add your own Jev or Anthropic key; enabling it sends limited email content directly from your Mac to that provider. The privacy policy lists exactly what is sent.

Which accounts does Braid support?

Gmail and Google Workspace. Outlook and Microsoft 365, then any IMAP account, are planned for later.

Why does Google say the app isn't verified?

Braid has not completed Google's verification process. While it is in Testing mode, sign-in works only for invited alpha testers (Google allows up to 100) and Google shows a warning screen first. Click Continue. To get an invite, email us with the address you want to sign in with.

Why do I have to sign in again after 7 days?

While an app is in Google's testing mode, Google expires its sign-ins after 7 days. This goes away once verification is finished.

How do I remove Braid's access to my account?

Remove Braid at myaccount.google.com/permissions. To delete everything Braid stored on your Mac, quit Braid and delete ~/Library/Application Support/com.sap.mail/.

Do I need AI keys?

No. Braid works fully without them. Sorting into buckets, summaries and reply drafts are optional and use your own Jev or Anthropic key.

Can I use my own Google client?

Yes. Open Settings › Accounts › Google client (under Advanced). The setup guide walks you through creating one.

Is there an iPhone app?

Not yet. iOS is planned for later.
