System requirements

  • macOS 11 Big Sur or later
  • Apple silicon or Intel (one universal app)
  • A Gmail or Google Workspace account

Install

  1. Open the DMG you downloaded.
  2. Drag Braid to Applications, then open it from there.
  3. Click Sign in with Google and choose your account.

If macOS says Braid can't be opened, right-click Braid in Applications and choose Open. On macOS 15 and later, open System Settings › Privacy & Security and click Open Anyway.

Alpha: sign-in is invite-only for now

Google is still verifying Braid. Until it's done, Google lets an app in testing sign in up to 100 invited testers, so you need an invite before you can connect your account. When you sign in, Google shows a “Google hasn't verified this app” screen: click Continue.

Updates

Braid updates itself. When a new version is ready, the top bar shows Restart to update.

Build from source

Braid is Tauri, Rust and React. The setup guide covers building it and using your own Google client. The code is on GitHub.
